DJI NEW DRONE RELEASE April 2021

New model upgrades and releases from DJI Innovations are always ‘highly anticipated’ and the newest release - the DJI Air 2S drone has now arrived!

The DJI Air 2S is an all-around drone that offers various new features over the DJI Mavic Air 2 by combining the small size of the Mavic 2 Pro and the image quality of the Mavic 2 Air. The term "Mavic" has also been abandoned by DJI for the Air 2s.

From the Mavic Air, the camera quality, intelligent features, obstacle sensing system, and transmission system have all greatly enhanced. One-inch CMOS sensor, four-antenna low-latency transmission, APAS 4.0, additional upward dual vision sensors, and MasterShots flying modes are among the improvements.

Early flight test reviews of the DJI Air 2S have been enthusiastic in their opinions. Described by one high profile YouTube reviewer - Peter McKinnon as: “A mash up of DJI’s latest and greatest machines - the Mavic 2 pro and Mavic Air.

The new MasterShots flight mode produces interesting results, as a showcase of all the QuickShots in a single video clip. Combining the Boomerang / Rocket / Circle / Helix and Asteroid shots.

In conclusion:

Video - it’s possible to shoot 5.4K at up to 30fps, 4K at up to 60fps and Full HD at up to 120fps, so slow-motion video is available. One downside to the DJI Air2S is the camera’s lack of aperture control, compared to the sensor on Mavic 2 pro. DJI say’s this is to save weight and is unlikely to change on this model.

Zoom - There’s also the 8x digital zoom, which starts at 4x with 4K at 30fps video and goes up to 8x with 1080p at 30fps. Unfortunately, Zoom recording isn’t available while shooting 10-bit videos or 120fps videos.

Price: £899 or £1169 for the Fly More Combo package
