Repeatable Survey, Automatically
The 4D's 4/3 CMOS wide camera with mechanical shutter is built for photogrammetry, avoiding the rolling shutter distortion that undermines accuracy at mapping speeds. Paired with integrated RTK, that means centimetre-level positioning on every automated sortie. Run the same route weekly from the dock and you get a genuinely comparable dataset each time, which is what makes automated progress monitoring work rather than just producing pretty imagery.

AI Recognition Without an Operator

First-Ever Vehicle-Mounted Dock
The Dock 3 is DJI's first dock built for mobile, vehicle-mounted operation, with in-transit charging and data transfer supported. For surveyors covering multiple sites or long linear assets, the launch point moves with the team rather than dictating where they can work. Fixed installation is equally supported, on a concrete base, steel frame, load-bearing frame, or direct ground mount.
Continuous Operations With Dual Docks
Two docks at one site let an aircraft rotate between them, so the next mission starts while the previous battery charges. With cloud scheduling in DJI FlightHub 2, that supports uninterrupted coverage without on-site personnel.
Rapid Turnaround
Quick takeoff has the aircraft airborne roughly ten seconds after the cover opens. Charging runs from 15% to 95% in 27 minutes at 25°C, which sets the practical minimum interval between consecutive sorties.
Built for Extreme Conditions
The dock is rated IP56 and operates from -30°C to 50°C, with compressor-based air conditioning that actively heats and cools rather than simply venting. The 4D is IP55-rated with anti-icing propellers, and both tolerate winds up to 12 m/s.
Transmission and Extended Range
O4+ Enterprise transmission runs through nine built-in antennas in a 2T4R configuration. Under CE regulations, which apply in the UK, maximum transmission distance is 12km (25km under FCC). Onboard Monitoring and Security
Integrated sensors track wind speed, rainfall, ambient temperature, water immersion, and in-cabin conditions, feeding environmental data into the launch decision. Dual 1920×1080 cameras, one internal and one external, cover 151° with auxiliary white light for night visibility.

Does this include the aircraft?
Yes. This bundle includes both the Dock 3 and the Matrice 4D. The Dock Only listing covers the docking station alone at a lower price if you already hold a compatible aircraft.
Should I choose the 4D or the 4TD bundle?
The 4D carries a 4/3 CMOS mapping camera built for surveying, construction monitoring, and precision capture. The 4TD swaps that for a 640×512 thermal sensor and NIR light, aimed at public safety and thermal inspection. The dock and airframe are identical, so the choice is purely about mission type.
Can the aircraft be flown manually as well as from the dock?
Yes, with a DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller, sold separately unless already held. The aircraft isn't locked to dock operation.
What's the actual transmission range in the UK?
12km under CE regulations. The 25km figure quoted widely is the FCC maximum, which applies in the United States rather than here.
What happens during a power cut?
The 12Ah backup battery sustains dock operation for over four hours, though aircraft charging, air conditioning, cover heating, and wind gauge heating are all suspended while on backup power.
Do I need a service plan?
