DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: The First Dual-Lens Pocket Camera Lands Today
DJI has launched the Osmo Pocket 4P worldwide today, 30 July, at 12pm GMT. It is the first Pocket camera with two lenses, and the biggest change to the line since the series began.
Where every previous Pocket has worked from a single fixed focal length, the 4P carries a wide-angle main camera and a dedicated 60mm telephoto, both on the same three-axis mechanical gimbal. That gives two genuine framing options from one pocket-sized body, without cropping or digital zoom.
What Is Actually New
The headline is the second lens, but the main camera has changed too.
Main camera: a 1-inch stacked CMOS sensor behind a 20mm equivalent f/2.0 lens, using LOFIC sensor technology to reach a claimed 17 stops of dynamic range. For context, the standard Osmo Pocket 4 manages 14 stops. Three extra stops is the difference between recovering a blown sky and losing it.
Telephoto camera: a 1/1.28-inch sensor behind a 60mm equivalent f/1.8 lens, delivering 3x optical zoom. That focal length is the classic portrait length, compressing the background and separating the subject in a way a wide lens simply cannot.
The Specs That Matter
- Records 4K at up to 240fps, holding full resolution through heavy slow motion
- Captures 10-bit D-Log 2, DJI's new colour profile aimed at professional grading workflows
- Runs up to 210 minutes on a 1545mAh battery, comfortably a full day of intermittent shooting
- Stores 103GB internally, so the camera works out of the box with no card to buy
- Frames on a 2-inch 1000-nit touchscreen, readable in direct sunlight
- Records through three built-in microphones, with DJI microphone transmitters connecting directly
On-device extras include six film tones and real-time skin smoothing, with fuller grading available through the DJI Mimo app.
Why the Second Lens Changes Things
Two focal lengths on one body removes the compromise that has defined the Pocket series. A single wide lens is excellent for travel, walking shots, and pieces to camera, but it flattens portraits and forces you to physically close the distance to fill a frame.
The 60mm telephoto solves that. Interview shots, product close-ups, and anything where a subject should stand out from its background now work properly, and switching between the two is instant rather than a lens change.
For anyone shooting a mix of establishing shots and talking-head content, that is the difference between carrying one camera and carrying two.
What About D-Log 2?
D-Log 2 is new with this camera. The existing 10-bit D-Log already gives room to grade in post, but D-Log 2 is built specifically around the wider dynamic range the LOFIC sensor produces, retaining more information at both ends of the exposure.
If you deliver graded work rather than straight-out-of-camera footage, this is a meaningful upgrade rather than a marketing number.
Pocket 4P or Pocket 4?
The standard Osmo Pocket 4 remains a strong camera and is currently reduced from £445.00 to £422.75.

Choose the Pocket 4 if you shoot mainly wide and want the lower price. Choose the 4P if you need the telephoto reach, the extra dynamic range, and D-Log 2 for grading.
The Route to Launch
DJI has taken an unusual path with this one. The camera was teased at the Cannes Film Festival in May, went on sale in China on 15 June, and then rolled out quietly across Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam before today's global launch.
That means the hardware has been in reviewers' hands for weeks and the specifications were already public. What today confirms is international pricing and availability.
One notable absence: DJI has not announced availability in the United States, continuing a pattern that has affected several recent releases including the standard Pocket 4.
