DJI Zenmuse L3
DJI's first long-range, high-precision LiDAR payload, combining a 1,535nm Class 1 eye-safe laser with dual 100MP cameras in a single three-axis gimbal. Built for survey, mapping, and infrastructure inspection work that needs both dense point cloud data and true-colour imagery from the same flight.
Range and Accuracy
The L3 reaches up to 950m on low-reflectivity targets (10%), with vertical accuracy of 2-4cm and horizontal accuracy of 3-4cm at typical survey altitude. A smaller laser spot size (41mm diameter at 120m) resolves fine detail like wires and structural edges that wider-beam LiDAR systems miss. Point rate is adjustable from 100kHz to 2MHz, letting you trade point density against coverage speed depending on the mission.
Three Scanning Modes
- Run Linear mode for more consistent point cloud distribution, ideal for high-accuracy terrain mapping.
- Run Star-Shaped mode to balance accuracy with multiple scan angles and penetration, suited to forests or dense urban environments.
- Run Non-Repetitive mode for broader coverage across multiple scan angles, optimised for power line inspection and complex structural surveys.
Built for the Matrice 400
The L3 is designed specifically for the Matrice 400 platform, taking advantage of its extended flight time and payload capacity for long-endurance survey missions. Daily coverage reaches up to 100km² under typical conditions, and captured data processes directly through DJI Terra and DJI Modify without needing a separate third-party pipeline.
Dual 100MP Camera System
Two Micro Four Thirds 100MP cameras capture true-colour imagery alongside the LiDAR pass, generating photorealistic colourised point clouds and 2D/3D models in a single flight rather than two separate ones. Choose between 25MP (0.5-second capture interval) or full 100MP (1.2-second interval) depending on whether speed or resolution matters more for the mission. A wide 106° field of view covers more ground per pass, reducing the number of flight lines needed.

DJI Enterprise Care Plus comes as standard on the L3, providing unrestricted replacement cover rather than a capped number of claims.

Does the L3 work with any drone other than the Matrice 400?
No, it's built specifically for the Matrice 400 platform and isn't compatible with the Matrice 4 Series or earlier Matrice models.
Do I need DJI Terra to use the L3's data?
DJI Terra and DJI Modify are the intended processing pipeline for L3 data, generating point clouds, orthophotos, and 3D models. Terra is sold separately if you don't already hold a licence.
Which scanning mode should I use?
Linear suits open terrain mapping, Star-Shaped suits forestry or dense urban environments needing better penetration, and Non-Repetitive suits power line and structural inspection needing broader angle coverage. Our team can talk through which fits your specific project.
Does it come with memory cards?
