The Mavic 3M sees what an RGB camera cannot. A 20MP wide camera and four dedicated 5MP multispectral sensors capture green, red, red edge, and near-infrared in a single pass, producing NDVI and NDRE vegetation index maps for crop health assessment, variable rate application planning, and environmental monitoring. 43 minutes of flight covers up to 200 hectares.

Dual Imaging System
The RGB camera uses a 20MP 4/3 CMOS sensor with a mechanical shutter, avoiding the rolling shutter distortion that undermines mapping accuracy at speed. Alongside it sit four dedicated 5MP multispectral sensors:

All five capture simultaneously in one pass, so a single flight produces both the visual map and the vegetation index data rather than requiring two sorties.
Sunlight Sensor for Consistent NDVI
A sensor on the top of the airframe records solar irradiance into every image file, allowing light compensation during reconstruction. This is what makes data comparable between flights: without it, the same field surveyed under cloud one week and full sun the next produces NDVI values that can't be meaningfully compared. With it, you can track change over a season and trust the trend.
RTK Without Ground Control Points
The RTK module ships pre-installed. Flight controller, camera, and RTK module synchronise at microsecond level to capture the exact position of each image's centre, giving centimetre-level accuracy without laying ground control points across the site. On large agricultural blocks, that removes hours of groundwork per survey.
Efficient Coverage
- Fly for 43 minutes on a single battery.
- Cover up to 200 hectares in one flight.
- Follow the terrain automatically, holding a consistent height above ground on sloped orchards and undulating fields rather than flying a flat plane over uneven land.
- Transmit up to 15km on O3 Enterprise with 1080p live view.
- Avoid obstacles omnidirectionally, with wide-FOV vision sensors covering all directions.
The Agras Workflow
Paired with DJI Terra or the DJI SmartFarm Platform, the Mavic 3M's output feeds directly into prescription spraying. Terra reconstructs the orchard map, identifies and counts individual trees, distinguishes them from other objects, and generates three-dimensional operation routes for an Agras spraying drone. Areas with a lower NDVI reading receive a higher dose, healthier areas receive less, so chemical use follows crop need rather than a flat rate across the block.

Which software do I need to process the data?
DJI Terra generates radiometrically calibrated reflectance maps and NDVI/NDRE vegetation index output from Mavic 3M data. The DJI SmartFarm Platform covers agricultural workflows including prescription mapping. Terra is sold separately.
Does the Mavic 3M work with DJI FlightHub 2?
No. It's the one model in the Mavic 3 Enterprise range that FlightHub 2 does not support, so plan your workflow around Terra and SmartFarm rather than cloud fleet management.
How does it compare to the Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T?
The 3E is built for general mapping and survey, the 3T carries a thermal camera for inspection and public safety, and the 3M adds the four multispectral sensors for vegetation analysis. If you need NDVI, the 3M is the only one of the three that produces it.
Do I need ground control points?
Not for standard accuracy. The pre-installed RTK module with microsecond synchronisation delivers centimetre-level positioning without them, though GCPs remain useful for verifying results on high-precision work.
Can it be used for anything besides agriculture?
Yes. Multispectral data supports environmental monitoring, forestry health assessment, natural resource surveys, and land management, anywhere vegetation condition needs measuring rather than just photographing.

Do I need a licence to fly the Mavic 3M commercially in the UK?
At 951g it sits in a different weight class to the Matrice range, but commercial operation still requires an Operator ID and appropriate competency. The included A2CofC course covers part of this. Our team can talk you through what your specific operation needs.
