DJI RS 5: 3kg Payload With Touchscreen Subject Tracking
The DJI RS 5 carries up to 3kg (6.6lbs), covering mainstream mirrorless camera and lens combinations with room to spare. Peak motor torque is up 50% over the previous generation, holding stability in fast-moving scenes that would overwhelm a lighter gimbal.
The RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module lets you select a subject directly from the gimbal's touchscreen and keeps them precisely framed, tracking a person up to 10 metres away and reacquiring them within 2 seconds if they briefly leave the frame.

3kg Payload and Enhanced Torque
At just 1.46kg with the battery grip and quick-release plates fitted, the RS 5 carries a 3kg payload, comfortably handling mainstream mirrorless bodies and lenses. Peak motor torque is up 50% over the RS 4, giving the stability margin needed for fast, unpredictable movement rather than slow, deliberate pans.
The 5th-generation RS Stabilisation Algorithm further refines results for walking, running, and vertical shooting, balancing stability against natural, responsive control.
Touchscreen Subject Tracking
The RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, included in the Combo, lets you tap a subject directly on the gimbal's touchscreen and keeps them held in frame. It tracks a person up to 10 metres away, and if the subject briefly leaves frame, reacquires them within 2 seconds.
Tracking also supports single-vehicle and single-pet scenarios, though DJI notes it works best with one clear subject rather than crowded, overlapping, or fast-erratic scenes. That is worth knowing before relying on it for a complex shot.
The Electronic Briefcase Handle
Included in the Combo, the redesigned briefcase handle enables intuitive single-handed operation, with a joystick and buttons controlling both gimbal and camera for creative low or side angles without a second hand on the rig.
Fast Setup and Vertical Shooting

The RS 5 supports mainstream mirrorless cameras from major brands including Nikon, with expanded camera control over previous generations. It is not compatible with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro or other Pocket Cinema Camera models, but does work with the Tilta Advanced Ring for extended lens control.
