DJI Osmo Mobile Series: Smartphone Gimbals for Smooth, Stabilised Video
The DJI Osmo Mobile series turns a phone into a properly stabilised camera. Three-axis mechanical stabilisation removes the shake handheld phone footage always has, and native subject tracking keeps a moving person, pet, or object centred while you concentrate on the shot rather than the framing.
The range covers three models: the Osmo Mobile 8 as the mainstream choice, the Osmo Mobile 8P for the most advanced tracking, and the Osmo Mobile SE as the lightweight, lower-cost entry point.
Choose Your Osmo Mobile
| Model | Tracking | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Osmo Mobile SE | ActiveTrack | Lightweight entry into stabilised video |
| Osmo Mobile 8 | ActiveTrack with Multifunctional Module | The mainstream all-rounder |
| Osmo Mobile 8P | ActiveTrack 8.0 with Module 2 and FrameTap | Advanced tracking and remote framing |
DJI Osmo Mobile 8
Ultra-Comfortable Grip for Low-Angle Shots · Built-in Extension Rod & Tripod
DJI Osmo Mobile 8
The mainstream model, combining three-axis stabilisation with the DJI OM Multifunctional Module that handles tracking, lighting, and audio in one attachment.
- Track people and pets automatically with the Multifunctional Module, without opening the Mimo app
- Rotate a full 360° on the pan axis, capturing sweeping spins and effortless low-angle shots the Mobile 7 could not manage
- Light a subject with the module's adjustable fill light for selfies and video calls in low light
- Connect directly to your phone, with Apple DockKit support for native tracking in the iPhone camera and third-party apps
- Frame further with Dual Lens Boost, using the phone's wide and telephoto lenses together to hold a fast-moving subject
- Shoot all day on up to 10 hours of battery, and charge your phone from the gimbal over USB-C
- Deploy in seconds with a magnetic quick-release clamp, a built-in extension rod, and a built-in tripod
The Multifunctional Module is the differentiator over a basic gimbal, putting tracking, lighting, and audio in one place.
DJI Osmo Mobile 8P
The Osmo Mobile 8P sits above the standard model for creators who need the most robust tracking, and is available in Standard, Advanced Tracking, and Creator combos.
- Track through crowds and fast movement with ActiveTrack 8.0, holding a subject through obstructions and quick shifts at a concert, exhibition, or sports arena
- Frame remotely with the detachable Osmo FrameTap, which mirrors your phone view and lets you tap a detection box to lock focus without touching the phone
- Lock onto any object with the upgraded Multifunctional Module 2, tracking not just people and pets but cars, collectibles, and landmarks
- Reacquire subjects automatically, with the Mimo app bringing them back if they leave the frame
- Pair instantly by tapping your phone on the gimbal's NFC area
For filming sport, events, or anything where the subject moves unpredictably, the 8P's tracking is the reason to step up.
DJI Osmo Mobile SE
The Osmo Mobile SE is the lightweight, lower-cost entry into stabilised phone video. Its foldable body and magnetic quick-release make it easy to carry and quick to deploy, and a status panel lets you switch gimbal modes at the push of a button. Right for anyone who wants smooth footage without the module-based tracking, lighting, and audio of the 8 and 8P.
Which Should You Buy?
The SE for smooth, stabilised phone video at the lowest price, without tracking modules or fill light.
The Mobile 8 for most people. The Multifunctional Module's tracking, lighting, and audio cover vlogging, travel, and everyday content properly.
The Mobile 8P if tracking is critical, filming sport, events, or anything where the subject moves fast through a busy scene, and you want remote framing with the FrameTap.

Osmo Mobile or a Dedicated Camera?
A phone gimbal stabilises the camera you already carry. If you would rather not tie up your phone while filming, a dedicated camera with its own sensor and built-in gimbal may suit you better.
- Osmo Pocket 4 Series, a 1-inch sensor and mechanical gimbal in a pocket body, built for vlogging
- Osmo Nano, wearable POV in a tiny magnetic form
- Osmo Action 6, for rugged, waterproof action use
DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Standard Combo
Dual lenses: 1″ wide-angle & 60mm med-tele · 1″ CMOS with 17-stop dynamic range
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Osmo Mobile 8, 8P and SE?
The SE is the lightweight entry model with core stabilisation. The Mobile 8 adds the Multifunctional Module for tracking, lighting, and audio, plus 360° rotation. The 8P steps up to ActiveTrack 8.0, the Osmo FrameTap remote, and the upgraded Module 2 that tracks objects as well as people and pets.
Does it work with my phone?
Yes, with both iOS and Android through the DJI Mimo app. iPhone users also get Apple DockKit support for native tracking, and Android phones support NFC pairing to launch the app automatically.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 10 hours of operating time, and the gimbal can charge your phone over USB-C while you shoot.
Do I need the Multifunctional Module?
It is included with the Mobile 8 and 8P and is what enables tracking, lighting, and audio without the app. The SE does not use it. For most creators the module is the main reason to choose the 8 over the SE.
Can it track pets and objects?
The Mobile 8 tracks people and pets. The 8P's Module 2 goes further, tracking general objects too, from cars to landmarks.
What is the Osmo FrameTap?
A detachable remote, included with the 8P, that mirrors your phone's view so you can frame and control the gimbal from a distance. Tap a detection box on its screen to lock focus and start tracking.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. All new, sealed DJI products from Drone Safe Store carry a full 24-month warranty.
