The DJI Ronin 4D combines a full-frame Zenmuse X9 gimbal camera, 4-axis stabilisation, LiDAR focusing, and wireless transmission in a single body. Stabilisation, focus, monitoring, and transmission are built in rather than assembled from separate units, which removes the rigging time a conventional cinema build demands before a single frame is shot.
CineCore 3.0 handles processing on DJI's own chip, supporting internal recording in Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 4444 XQ, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 LT, and H.264, at up to 8K/75fps and 4K/120fps.

The Zenmuse X9 Full-Frame Camera
Every specification below translates directly into what reaches the grade:
- Capture 14+ stops of dynamic range, holding highlight and shadow detail through mixed and difficult lighting without bracketing
- Shoot across the range with dual native ISO, producing clean images at both ends rather than forcing a compromise
- Control exposure using built-in 9-stop ND filters, removing external matte box filters and the time they cost between setups
- Record internally in Apple ProRes RAW and ProRes 4444 XQ, feeding a professional post pipeline without transcoding
- Swap lens systems through interchangeable mounts, covering DL, DX, and M Mount configurations
- Record at up to 8K/75fps or 4K/120fps, giving reframing headroom and high frame rate options from one body
4-Axis Stabilisation
The fourth axis is the difference. A dedicated Z-axis substantially reduces the vertical bounce that footsteps introduce, which is the movement conventional 3-axis gimbals cannot correct. Working with the vision sensors and ActiveTrack Pro, it produces walking shots that previously required a Steadicam operator or a dolly.
The main body is aluminium-magnesium alloy with a carbon fibre Z-axis arm, keeping rigidity high and weight controlled across a shooting day.
LiDAR Focusing
LiDAR range finding delivers fast, accurate autofocus that holds in low light where contrast-based systems fail. For a solo operator pulling their own focus while operating, that removes the single most common cause of an unusable take.
O3 Pro Video Transmission
DJI O3 Pro carries a 20,000 foot transmission range, supporting one transmitter feeding multiple receivers. Gimbal, focus, and camera settings can all be controlled remotely, which is what makes genuine single-operator and small-crew workflows practical on larger sets.

The Flex Gimbal Extender
Worth its own mention. Separating the X9 camera from the main body via a 2m coaxial cable transmits 8K signals without loss, while cutting the weight carried at the front. Camera positions become far more flexible, which matters most for through-shots and confined spaces such as vehicle interiors.
Switching between Flex and integrated configuration is toolless, and it works natively with the Ronin 4D hand grips and main monitor.
Who the Ronin 4D Is For
Solo cinematographers and small crews gain the most, since one operator can handle stabilisation, focus, and monitoring that would otherwise need three people. The integrated design also suits productions where setup time between shots is the constraint rather than the budget.

What is the difference between the 6K and 8K Combos?
Both share the same main body, 4-axis gimbal, LiDAR focusing, and transmission. The 6K Combo carries the Zenmuse X9-6K recording to 6K plus 4K/120fps. The 8K Combo carries the X9-8K recording to 8K/75fps, and adds a PROSSD 1TB with mount and cable to handle the data rates.
