DJI SDR Transmission: Stable Wireless Video With Strong Penetration
DJI SDR Transmission uses Software-Defined Radio technology to prioritise signal stability, interference resistance, and penetration over maximum bitrate. That makes it suited to sets where walls, structures, and competing wireless kit break a conventional link, rather than to productions needing the highest possible image quality.
It supports both SDR and Wi-Fi transmission modes, so a feed can go to a dedicated receiver or straight to a phone or tablet when a temporary monitor is all that is needed.

Range and Penetration
DJI rates SDR Transmission at up to 3km (10,000ft) under FCC, and 2km under CE, which is the figure that applies in the UK. Wi-Fi mode reaches around 200m, intended for temporary monitoring on a phone or tablet rather than distance work.
Penetration is where SDR earns its place. Where a conventional link degrades through walls, scaffolding, or vehicles, SDR holds a usable feed, which matters more than raw distance on most practical shoots.
Latency and Image Quality

- Hop frequencies automatically across 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz, and DFS bands, holding the link as the wireless environment changes
- Connect unlimited receivers in Broadcast mode, so several crew members monitor simultaneously from one transmitter
Two-Way Communication
The receiver supports one-to-one real-time voice communication with the transmitter through the 3.5mm stereo jack. A director or client can talk directly to the cinematographer without a separate comms system, which removes a whole category of kit from a small production.
