DJI Mic 3: Wireless Microphone With 32-Bit Float and Timecode

The DJI Mic 3 records dual-file 32-bit float audio internally, capturing a usable track even when levels are set wrong or a subject suddenly shouts. One receiver connects to four transmitters at once, and up to seven further receivers sync to the primary, covering multi-camera productions and group interviews from a single system.

Transmission reaches 400 metres with automatic switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, holding a stable link in congested environments such as trade shows and events.

Choose Your Kit

PackageIncludesBest ForPrice
Mic 3 (1 TX + 1 RX)   One transmitter, one receiver   Solo creators, single-subject work  £169.00
Mic 3 (2 TX + 1 RX + Charging Case)   Two transmitters, receiver, charging case   Interviews, two-person setups  £259.00

Adding a second transmitter later costs £85 on top of the £169 kit, which lands close to the £259 two-transmitter kit without the charging case. If there is any chance you will need two microphones, the larger kit is the better buy.

32-Bit Float Recording

Every feature below removes a way a recording can go wrong:

  • Record dual-file 32-bit float internally, retaining detail across an enormous dynamic range so clipped or overly quiet audio can be recovered in post
  • Adjust automatically with Adaptive Gain Control, handling sudden changes in volume without an operator riding levels
  • Cut background noise with two-level noise cancelling, choosing the amount of processing to suit the environment
  • Capture safely with internal recording on the transmitter itself, so audio survives even if the wireless link drops

For anyone recording interviews or events where a retake is impossible, 32-bit float is the single most useful feature here.

Timecode for Multi-Camera Work

The transmitter embeds timecode into its internal recording, and the receiver supports both timecode input and output. Drift stays under one frame across 24 hours, so multi-camera footage aligns in post without manual syncing.

On a two or three camera shoot, that turns an hour of syncing into a single click.

Four Transmitters, Eight Receivers

One receiver pairs with up to four transmitters simultaneously, recording four separate audio sources. Up to seven additional receivers sync to the primary receiver, which is what allows several cameras to record the same clean audio.

Output modes cover Mono and Stereo, with each transmitter output independently or combined into one track. Quadraphonic mode outputs four independent tracks with compatible Sony cameras and computer applications, giving full track separation for mixing.

Battery and Charging

  • Record for up to 8 hours on a transmitter and 10 hours on a receiver, covering a full day without a swap
  • Extend to roughly 28 hours total using the charging case, which delivers around 2.4 full charges
  • Top up in 5 minutes for around 2 hours of use, useful between sessions
  • Recharge fully in around 50 minutes via 3C fast charging

The charging case holds two transmitters and one receiver with windscreens, magnets, and clips still attached, so nothing needs stripping down between jobs.

Mounting and Wearing

The transmitter is small, light, and discreet, working with both clip-on and magnetic attachment. A removable, rotatable clip allows the microphone to sit sideways or inverted, so orientation can be adjusted for the best capture position rather than being fixed by the clothing it attaches to.

Individual Components and Accessories

A USB-C phone adapter is included in both kits. The Lightning adapter is only needed for older iPhones.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 32-bit float recording and why does it matter?

It records across an enormous dynamic range, meaning audio that would normally clip or come out too quiet can be recovered in editing. On interviews and events where a retake is impossible, it turns a ruined take into a usable one.

How many microphones can I use at once?

One receiver connects to four transmitters simultaneously, recording four separate sources. Up to seven additional receivers can sync to the primary receiver for multi-camera setups.

What is the transmission range?

Up to 400 metres, with automatic switching between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Anti-interference performance holds the link in congested environments such as trade shows.

Which kit should I buy?

The 1 TX + 1 RX kit at £169 suits solo creators recording one subject. The 2 TX + 1 RX kit at £259 adds a second microphone and the charging case, and is the better buy if you record interviews or two-person conversations.

Does it work with my phone?

Yes. A USB-C phone adapter is included in both kits. Older iPhones need the Lightning adapter at £15.

Up to 8 hours on a transmitter and 10 hours on a receiver, extending to around 28 hours total with the charging case. A 5 minute charge gives roughly 2 hours of use.

Can I use Mic 3 transmitters with my older DJI receiver?

The Mic Series Mobile Receiver pairs with any combination of Mic Mini, Mic 2, and Mic 3 transmitters. For other combinations, call us and we will confirm before you order.

Does it come with a warranty?
