DJI Mavic 3 Pro

Inspiration in Focus

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro carries three cameras with three different focal lengths on one airframe: a Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS wide camera, a 1/1.3-inch medium telephoto, and a 1/2-inch telephoto. Switching between them is a single tap on the display, so a scene can be covered wide, medium, and tight without repositioning the aircraft or cropping in post.

The Hasselblad camera is inherited from the Mavic 3 series, delivering up to 12.8 stops of natural dynamic range and 12-bit RAW capture. That combination is what separates the Mavic 3 Pro from single-camera drones for anyone building a sequence rather than grabbing a shot.

Three Focal Lengths, One Aircraft

Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS, 24mm
The primary camera, recording 5.1K video with Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution. Up to 12.8 stops of dynamic range and 12-bit RAW capture give substantial room to grade and recover detail in post.

Medium Telephoto, 1/1.3-inch CMOS, 70mm
A 3x equivalent focal length that compresses depth of field, isolating a subject against a flattened background. This is the focal length that makes portrait and vehicle work read as cinematic rather than documentary.

Telephoto, 1/2-inch CMOS, 166mm
A 7x equivalent reach for tight detail and compressed landscape compositions from a safe distance, useful where flying closer is not practical or permitted.

Flight, Transmission and Safety

Every specification below carries a practical shooting benefit:

  • Fly up to 43 minutes per battery, covering scouting, setup, and multiple takes within one flight
  • Transmit up to 15km of HD video, holding a stable feed across open landscapes and coastline
  • Detect obstacles omnidirectionally using eight wide-angle vision sensors and a high-performance vision computing engine, which plans a route around hazards rather than simply stopping
  • Track subjects with FocusTrack, covering ActiveTrack 5.0, Spotlight, and Point of Interest for multi-directional tracking shots
  • Capture 100MP panoramas, producing landscape and seascape frames with genuine print resolution
  • Automate cinematic sequences with MasterShots and QuickShots, including Rocket, Circle, Dronie, and Helix

Mavic 3 Pro Cine

The Cine variant shares the same triple-camera system and adds a 1TB internal SSD alongside Apple ProRes 422 recording. For anyone delivering to a professional post-production pipeline, ProRes removes the transcode step and holds far more grading latitude than compressed formats.

UK Flight Requirements

The Mavic 3 Pro sits well above the 250g threshold, so full registration applies. You will need both a Flyer ID, earned by passing the CAA's free online theory test and valid for five years, and an Operator ID, a low-cost annual registration, before flying outdoors.

Its weight also places it outside the A1 category, so it cannot be flown as close to uninvolved people as a sub-250g drone. Pilots working in built-up areas should consider the A2 Certificate of Competency, and commercial operators requiring an Operational Authorisation should look at the GVC Course.

How the Mavic 3 Pro Compares

Against the Mavic 3, the Pro adds two dedicated telephoto cameras and extends transmission range to 15km, at the cost of three minutes of flight time.

Against the Air 3S, the Mavic 3 Pro offers a larger 4/3 Hasselblad sensor and a third focal length, where the Air 3S covers two focal lengths on a 1-inch primary at a considerably lower price.

The Mavic 4 Pro now sits above it as DJI's current flagship. Call us and we will give you an honest comparison against how you actually shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the three cameras?

The Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS at 24mm handles wide, high dynamic range work. The 1/1.3-inch medium telephoto at 70mm gives 3x reach with compressed depth of field for portraits and vehicles. The 1/2-inch telephoto at 166mm gives 7x reach for tight detail from a distance.

What is the difference between the Mavic 3 Pro and the Cine?

Both share the same triple-camera system. The Cine adds a 1TB internal SSD and Apple ProRes 422 recording, removing the transcode step for professional post-production.

How long does the Mavic 3 Pro fly on one battery?

Up to 43 minutes under DJI's test conditions. Real-world UK flying with wind and active shooting reduces this.

Do I need a licence to fly the Mavic 3 Pro in the UK?

Yes. It is well over 250g, so it requires both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID before outdoor flight. The Flyer ID is free via the CAA's online test; the Operator ID is a low-cost annual registration.

Should I buy Care Refresh or Repair Refresh?

DJI Care Refresh runs from £209 for one year on the standard Mavic 3 Pro, offering low-cost replacements. Repair Refresh is our in-house alternative, with crash cover handled directly by our Chichester team and activated immediately. Call us and we will explain which suits how you fly.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes. All new, sealed DJI products from Drone Safe Store carry a 24-month warranty. For accidental damage cover, add DJI Care Refresh or our own Drone Safe Repair Refresh.
